The funky and fantastic Ocean Island Backpacker's Inn of Victoria, BC, Canada, seeks a Global Eats Maestro to help us fulfill our mission to serve up fresh international fare and drinks to locals and travelers at the city’s best prices, in our cozy Café / Lounge / Music Venue.

Job description:
• Preparing and serving food in a fast-paced environment; and some ordering, purchasing, storage and tracking of stock, as well as possibly costing and menu.
• Effectively being the kitchen manager in our little kitchen (since there is only one cook on at a time). Good experience and great to have on a resume!
• Position may also involve some bartending.
• Position is full-time and permanent, and shifts are days and nights.
• Compensation depends on experience and includes share of tips.
• Every day at the hostel is different – it’s a social place with guests from all over the world and great staff and every day is casual Friday at Ocean Island. We also offer hospitality industry discounts and freebies in Victoria and other travelers’’ accommodation in North America.

Qualifications and Qualities:
• Some experience in customer service.
• Commercial cooking experience is required.
• Driver's license an asset.
• We are open to people on temporary work visas and we can provide discounted accommodations for our staff, especially from October to May.
• The ability and desire to work independently; problem solving and decision making ability; flexibility; sense of humour; organized and energetic.
