Hostel Jobs

Hi,
My friend and I are looking into working at hostel for the summer of 2010, very advanced post, but we were wondering if it is difficult for 2 female American college students to get hostel jobs in Europe without visiting the hostel ahead of time, or having any hostel work experience? We are both out-going and personable girls, and think we would offer a great deal to a hostel; however, we worry that it would be very difficult and expensive to get a work permit in Europe, any input greatly appreciated!
